Terms of service

Last updated 25 September 2026.

We’re finishing a review with our solicitor. If anything changes, we’ll email you 14 days before it applies.

The short version

  • Brands pay the creator’s price plus a 10% service fee (at least £2.50 (or $2.99) a video), only when they start a deal. Creators pay nothing.
  • We hold the money until the brand approves the draft, or 72 hours pass, then the creator is paid in full. If no draft arrives, the brand is refunded in full.
  • Keep deals, contact and payment on Yap Factory for 24 months after you first connect here.

A summary to help you read. The text below is what applies.

These terms govern use of yapfactory.com and the Yap Factory service, operated by ZeroLotus Ltd (“we”, “us”). Yap Factory is a trading name of ZeroLotus Ltd, registered in England and Wales. Brands also agree to the Brand agreement, and Creators to the Creator agreement.

1. The service

Yap Factory is a marketplace connecting app brands (“Brands”) with short-form video creators (“Creators”). We provide matching, fixed offers and payment holding through Stripe Connect. We are not a party to the creative work itself.

2. Accounts

You must be 18 or over and provide accurate information. Creators must link at least one social account they control. One person, one account; duplicate accounts detected through platform identity may be suspended. Creators can choose to verify their identity with an ID check. It is optional and only adds a verified badge; it is never required to find work, accept an offer or be paid.

3. Deals and money

A deal is formed when a Creator accepts a Brand’s offer. The accepted offer is the contract and cannot change without a new version both parties accept. Accepting does not charge the Brand: the Brand then chooses to start the deal, and only then is it charged. The payment is held by Yap Factory and released to the Creator in full when the Brand approves the draft, or automatically if the Brand does not respond within 72 hours of a draft. When the money reaches the Creator’s bank depends on Stripe’s payout schedule.

Fees: Brands pay a service fee of 10% of the Creator’s price, on top, with a minimum of £2.50 (or $2.99) for each video in the deal, when they start a deal, as published on the Pricing page. A paid revision round carries the percentage only. Until 31 December 2026 (our launch offer), the percentage is 4% instead; the per-video minimum still applies, and the rate on an offer is the one in force when it's sent. For Brands in the UK, VAT at 20% is added to the service fee (never to the Creator’s price). There is no subscription or joining fee. Creators pay no fees.

4. Revisions, cancellation

3 revision rounds are included per deal, one consolidated note per round from the Brand’s named approver, returned within 3 business days. A round can be anything from a small edit to a full re-record. Each further round is billed at the Creator’s own extra-revision rate, as fixed on the offer, and charged before the round starts.

If a draft never arrives, the deal is cancelled and the Brand is refunded in full, including the service fee and any VAT on it.

If the Brand chooses to cancel a started deal, the service fee (and any VAT on it) is not refunded. Before app access is delivered, the held money is refunded to the Brand. After app access is delivered, the Creator receives a cancellation fee of 50% of their fee for making the video from the held money, and the rest is refunded to the Brand. After a draft is submitted, the Creator is paid for that draft, and the rest is refunded to the Brand.

5. Licences

Usage rights are the licence line items on the accepted offer, with the stated channels and end date. Posting on the Brand’s own channels is always included; running the video as a paid ad is limited to the term on the offer. No other rights are granted. Creators keep copyright.

6. Disclosure and conduct

Creators must disclose paid partnerships as required by the ASA/CAP Code (UK) and the FTC (US). Deals, contact and payment between people who meet here stay on Yap Factory, as set out in section 6b.

6a. Linked social accounts

When you link TikTok or another platform, you authorise us to read the profile, statistics and public videos described in our Privacy policy, only to run the service. Your use of those platforms stays subject to their own terms, including the TikTok Terms of Service. You can revoke access at any time. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by TikTok.

6b. Keep deals, contact and payment on Yap Factory

1. While you use Yap Factory, and for 24 months after you first connect with another user here (through browsing, an ask, an invite or a message), you must not:

  • share, ask for or hint at an email address, phone number, messaging-app or social-media handle, or any other way to contact each other outside Yap Factory, in messages or anywhere else on the service;
  • pay, ask to be paid, or offer to pay or be paid outside Yap Factory for work with a user you met here; or
  • suggest, agree or arrange to do that work outside Yap Factory, including to avoid our fees.

Asking counts, even if the other person says no.

2. What’s allowed. Talking through a brief, requirements, timing and price in Yap Factory messages, before and during a deal. App access details a Brand gives in a deal’s access step, such as a TestFlight link, promo code or test-account login. The linked social accounts and posted videos the service shows, and a Brand’s company name, website and app store listings.

3. How we check. We automatically scan messages and other text you post for contact details, requests to pay outside Yap Factory, and fraud. A message with contact or payment details is not sent; a social handle in a message is hidden. Our team may read messages that are flagged or reported. The Privacy policy explains how.

4. What happens. We may remove content, give a warning (warnings expire after 90 days), pause your messaging, or suspend or close your account. A person makes these decisions, never an automated system, and you can ask us to review one by replying to the notice or writing to support@yapfactory.com. Open deals and money held for them are handled under sections 3 and 7 either way.

5. Brands. If a Brand breaches paragraph 1 by taking work with a Creator it met on Yap Factory outside the platform, or by paying a Creator outside it, then, to the extent permitted by law, the Brand agrees to pay Yap Factory $10,000 (or £8,000 for Brands billed in pounds) as liquidated damages for each Creator involved. This is a genuine pre-estimate of our loss: the cost of finding, vetting and matching that Creator, and the fees we would have earned over the relationship. We may invoice it and recover reasonable costs of collecting it.

6. Creators. Tell us if a Brand asks you to work or be paid outside Yap Factory; the Report option on any message does this. You will never be penalised for a conversation you report.

7. Disputes

Either party may open a dispute once a draft is submitted. We resolve it within 5 business days against the accepted offer and the delivery evidence, and the held money stays put until then. Our decision on the release of held money is final within the service; it does not affect your statutory rights.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing limits liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms with 14 days’ notice by email. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions: support@yapfactory.com.
